Where do I get my insurance claim number? You’ll receive a claim number from your auto insurance company when you file a claim. Here's how to get it: As soon as possible after a collision, contact your auto insurance company and provide details about the collision. The insurer will guide you through the claims process and provide a claim number to help keep track of your case details. Have that number available when you bring your car in for repair.
-
Will you work with my insurance company? At MI Car Automotive & Collision, we work with all insurance companies. Our team has years of experience providing insurance claims assistance, ensuring a smooth repair process.
-
What is my auto insurance deductible, and who do I pay it to?Your deductible is the amount of the repair cost you must pay before your insurance will cover the rest. The amount of your deductible depends on your auto insurance policy. Unless the deductible is waived, you’ll pay this amount to MI Car Automotive & Collision (or whatever shop performs your repairs) once the work is completed. We’ll work with your insurance company to cover the rest.
-
What forms of payment do you accept? We accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards.
-
Can I bring my car in for repair or refinishing if it hasn’t been in a collision?Absolutely! We are a full-service auto shop specializing in auto mechanical repairs, general maintenance, repainting, specialty vehicle restoration, and much more! Call 616-818-6026 today to schedule a service.
-
How soon can I wash my car after an auto body repair?Wait 30–60 days after auto body repairs before taking your car through an automatic car wash. If you want to wash your vehicle during the first 30 days after repair, wash it by hand using cool water and mild car wash soap. Keep the car out of the sun during the wash, and dry it thoroughly afterward. Wait 90 days before waxing or polishing your vehicle.
-
Can I get other services for my vehicle while it is in the auto body shop?Yes! We can perform mechanical repairs and other maintenance while your car is in our body shop. From transmission work to tire rotation, we are your one-stop shop for auto repair!

What is the difference between aftermarket and OEM auto parts?OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts are made by your vehicle’s manufacturing company, while aftermarket parts are made by a third party. Because they are identical to your vehicle’s original parts, OEM parts ensure a consistent fit and quality. At MI Car Automotive & Collision, we use OEM parts for repairs if they are available for your vehicle and if your insurance allows.
